Nebraska voters split on gaming initiatives

Voters in Nebraska rejected one gaming measure on Tuesday but results are still pending on another initiative.

Amendment 3 was rejected by 65 percent of voters, the Associated Press reported. The proposal would have legalized two casinos.

Initiative 417 was trailing 49 percent to 51 percent, the AP said. The plan would allow slot machines at racetracks, bars and other establishments throughout the state.

If either measure gains approval, tribes can operate Class III machines. The state has four tribes.
