Appeals court hears Wyoming tribal gaming case

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday heard arguments in a Class III gaming case in Wyoming.

The Northern Arapaho Tribe won the right to offer certain Class III games. But the state is refusing to negotiate a compact or to work with the tribe.

A federal judge ordered the state to accept certain games but the state is challenging the ruling. Lawyers for the state told the appeals court on Monday that reservation gaming should be limited to calcutta and pari-mutuel games.

The tribe is also appealing and argues that it should be allowed to offer more games. Charitable gaming is legal in the state.
