Rhode Island Supreme Court hears gaming dispute

The Rhode Island Supreme Court held a hearing on Friday on the constitutionality of the Narragansett Tribe's proposed casino.

Gov. Donald Carcieri (R), who opposes the casino, asked the court to issue an advisory opinion on whether the tribe can operate the casino. He says a "private" casino is prohibited by the state constitution.

The tribe has partnered with Harrah's Entertainment to run the casino. Harrah's will give the host town of West Warwick $15 million a year if the casino is approved.
