Shawnee tribe in Oklahoma seeks casinos in Ohio

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma says it will drop its claim on 1.2 million acres in Ohio for the right operate up to seven casinos there.

The tribe plans to submit information to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to support the claim. A consultant said the tribe wants to negotiate rather than go to court.

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft (R) opposes the expansion of gaming.
