The Yavapai-Apache Nation of Arizona is loaning $30 million to the Santa Ysabel Band of Diegueńo Indians for a casino.
Yavapai-Apache officials say the loan is an effort to keep tribal money within Indian Country.
"We like to do business Indian-to-Indian," Fred Sanchez, president of Yavapai-Apache Gaming and vice chairman of the tribe's council, told The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Yavapai-Apache Nation helped the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians open a casino. The tribe also co-signed a casino loan for the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw in Oregon.
