Buffalo suburb to appeal Seneca Nation case

A Buffalo suburb that wants to host a Seneca Nation casino is appealing a court decision blocking the tribe's plans.

On June 16, State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Makowski ruled that the tribe has to build the casino in Buffalo. The tribe had chosen the suburb of Cheektowaga.

Leaders in Buffalo filed the lawsuit because they want the tribe to build the casino in downtown. But in response to the court ruling, Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong Sr. said he "cannot imagine any scenario in which we would bring a casino to Buffalo."
