Mescalero Apache Nation signs gaming compact

The Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico signed a gaming compact with the state of New Mexico on Tuesday, ending a long-running dispute over revenue-sharing.

The tribe will pay $25 million in back payments owed under old compacts that were in dispute. Under the new agreement, the tribe will pay up to 8 percent in slot machine revenues to the state.

Pojoaque Pueblo in northern New Mexico is still battling the old compact in court.
