County wants payment for Oneida Nation casino

A Wisconsin county is asking Gov. Jim Doyle (D) to negotiate "service payments" in a new gaming compact with the Oneida Nation.

Brown County Executive Carol Kelso says there are "rumors" the tribe is negotiating a new agreement. She wants it to include direct payments to the county for municipal services.

But the tribe says its existing compact is valid and that Doyle should reject the idea of service payments. Doyle wants to make new deals with tribes due to a state Supreme Court ruling that struck down key provisions in existing agreements.
