Tribal gaming funds will go to law enforcement

About $1.2 million in gaming funds will be used to boost law enforcement and infrastructure around the casino owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in California.

Of the amount, the San Bernardino Police Department police department will receive about $578,500 to boost law enforcement in the residential neighborhood that borders the casino. The city and county of Highland were each awarded $309,000 for law enforcement and infrastructure near the casino.

Additionally, nearly $300,000 will be used for a new fire truck to serve Lake Havasu near the Chemehuevi Tribe's casino.

The $1.2 million that was awarded comes from gaming tribes who contribute money to a state fund.
