Seneca Nation under pressure to move casino to Buffalo

A developer in New York is threatening a lawsuit if the Seneca Nation doesn't move its casino to downtown Buffalo.

The tribe has a compact with the state for three casinos, including two off-reservation. One has been built in Niagara Falls and the tribe has chosen a suburb in Buffalo for the second.

But Carl Paladino, a downtown business leader, says the tribe previously agreed, in a memorandum of understanding, to build in downtown Buffalo. He is lobbying Gov. George Pataki (R) and Interior Secretary Gale Norton to stop the tribe's suburban casino. If that fails, he says he will file a lawsuit.
