Maine court rejects tribal bid for slot license

A judge in Maine ruled that a tribal partnership does not have the right to bid on a slot machine license.

The Penobscot Nation and Passamaquoddy Tribe joined forces with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to seek the ability to operate up to 1,500 slot machines at a racetrack. But the judge said the tribes applied too late.

Last November, voters approved slot machines at two racetracks but rejected a proposed tribal casino.
