Calif. county seeks input into NIGC casino decision

A California county is asking the National Indian Gaming Commission for a "a seat at the table" as the agency evaluates a proposed casino for the Coast Miwok Tribe.

The tribe's restoration act specifies that the Department of Interior shall acquire land for an initial reservation in Marin or Sonoma counties. The tribe has chosen Sonoma County for development.

NIGC is evaluating the tribe's land request for up to 450 acres because the tribe has also submitted a casino management contract for approval.
