Wis. tribe seeks approval for off-reservation casino

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin have purchased 92.7 acres for an $80 million off-reservation casino.

The tribe bought the land for about $320,000, according to The Wisconsin State Journal. The land is located near Shullsburg, a small tourism-oriented city in Lafayette County.

The tribe wants the Bureau of Indian Affairs to take the land into trust. A decision could take a couple of years. After that, the state governor would have to sign off.
