N.M. tribal casino execs were fired in Vegas scandal

Two casino executives for the Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico were fired in Las Vegas for a rigging scandal.

The Las Vegas Sun said Michael French, chief operating officer for the tribe's casino, and Brian Parrish, director of marketing, were fired by the Venetian in 2002. Nevada regulators imposed $1 million in fines on the Venetian for the scheme in which high-rollers "won" a car.

Both executives said they informed the tribe of the incident. The tribe is required to submit background checks to the National Indian Gaming Commission.
