Meskwaki Tribe plans $150M casino expansion

The Meskwaki Tribe announced a $150 million expansion of its hotel and casino on Wednesday.

The tribe wants to add 200 seats in the bingo hall, 50 gaming and poker tables and 3,000 new slot machines. The expansion would nearly double the size of the facility.

The casino was shut down for much of last year due to an internal leadership dispute. Two factions battled in court before one was recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as the legitimate leadership. The National Indian Gaming Commission then authorized the re-opening of the casino.
