Maine tribes to take slot license issue to court

Two Maine tribes plan to take their bid to run the slot machines at a racetrack to court.

The Penobscot Nation and Passamaquoddy Tribe sought to intervene in the license process. But the state's harness racing commission rejected the tribes, as well as gambling opponents. Racetrack representatives labeled the tribes as "Johnny-come-latelys" to the scene.

Last year, the tribes sought voter approval for a casino somewhere in Maine. Voters rejected it 2-1.
