Minnesota tribes are criticizing the state Republican party for radio ads that urge voters to support revenue-sharing compacts.
There are no tribal gaming issues on the November 2 ballot but the ads will be aired before the election. Tribal leaders said the ads pits voters against Indians.
The radio ads state: "Tribal casinos are one of Minnesota's largest industries but casinos pay virtually nothing to the state" and "Vote Republican on Tuesday, November second." They urge voters to back Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) who wants tribes to pay $350 million a year in revenues or lose their exclusive rights to Class III gaming.
