The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin has spent $13.4 million to acquire land in a Chicago, Illinois, suburb for a possible casino.
The tribe plans a destination resort on the land. Development would include a casino, a shopping mall, a hotel, sports venues, restaurants and other amenities.
The tribe has acquired 130 acres of the 260 acres desired for the project. The tribe wants the land taken into trust but says a casino is not mandatory.
