Schwarzenegger attacks gaming initiatives

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) debuted a radio advertisement criticizing two ballot initiatives that he said would expand gaming in the state.

Schwarzenegger opposes Proposition 70 and Proposition 68. Both are competing with compacts he signed with several tribes.

Proposition 70 is sponsored by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. In an ad, supporters say it would help resolve the state's budget problems but Schwarzenegger says tribes would pay "almost nothing" to the state.

Proposition 68 is sponsored by non-Indian card clubs and race tracks. Supporters promise tribes will pay their "fair share" to the state but Schwarzenegger says the state would get "not one dime" if it is approved because all tribes have to agree to share 25 percent of slot machine revenues.
