A meeting on a proposed tribal casino near Gilroy, California, drew plenty of opposition but no supporters, The Hollister Free Lance reports.
The San Benito County Board of Supervisors was told the casino would increase crime and traffic and destroy the neighborhood. One person said county leaders would be subject to a recall if they endorsed the idea.
The tiny California Valley Miwok Tribe is looking at land near Gilroy. The tribe plans to hold at least three public meetings on the proposal. The tribe is considered landless.
