A tiny California tribe with just four adult members is seeking a casino in the Gilroy area.
The California Valley Miwok Tribe, formerly known as the Sheep Ranch Rancheria Miwoks, is eyeing sites in northern San Benito County or in southern Santa Clara County. The tribe is backed by a local businessman.
Local officials are not supporting the idea. They are speaking out against a pro-Indian gaming ballot initiative they say will clear the way for more casinos.
