Two bands of the Kumeyaay Nation of California are nearing a deal that would end their dispute over a casino project.
The Ewiiaapaayp Band has been trying to build a casino on 10 acres already in trust. But the Viejas Band has been fighting the project because the site is near the Viejas casino and currently houses a health clinic serving several tribes.
The tribes are now talking about a deal that would involve the Ewiiaapaayp Band relocating the proposed casino to the Viejas Reservation. According to The San Diego Union Tribune, the complex would be the largest in the world, surpassing two tribal casinos in Connecticut.
