New Mexico tribes see major growth in revenues


Revenues at New Mexico's tribal casinos rose 13 percent last year, according to a report by the Analysis Group.

The tribes saw $611 million in revenues in 2003, up from $539 million in 2002. As of last year, 13 tribes in the state had gaming facilities.

New Mexico tribes share a portion of their slot machine revenues with the state. The rate is capped at 8 percent, depending on amount generated.

According to the Analysis Group and the National Indian Gaming Commission, tribal casinos nationwide saw more than $16 billion in revenues last year.
