Twelve years ago, the Tulalip Tribes of Washington got into gaming and never looked back.
The original Tulalip Casino, currently under renovation, has helped the tribe become self-sufficient, officials say. But they also say it created opportunities pursue other economic ventures, including a business park and retail center that houses a Home Depot, a Walmart and other businesses.
The casino's success also led to the opening of an even bigger $78 million casino.
