The National Indian Gaming Commission on Friday issued a Notice of Violation to the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians, ordering the California tribe to shut down its casino by noon today.
The tribe is operating Class III games without a valid tribal-state compact, the NOV states. NIGC investigators counted hundreds of Class III machines, including slots, at the facility.
The tribe doesn't have a compact due to a legal dispute to the state. The U.S. Supreme Court, however, refused to entertain the dispute.
The tribe plans to appeal the NOV, an attorney said.
