The mayor of Chicago asked the Illinois Legislature to approve the state's first land-based casino, a week after the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin announced plans for a casino in a Chicago suburb.
Mayor Richard Daley says the casino will generate $550 million in annual revenues for the state and as much as $300 million for the city.
The Ho-Chunk Nation says its facility will generate $350 million a year in net revenues, of which $87 million, or 25 percent, would go to the state.
