A proposal to build a large tribal casino in Plymouth, California, has the small city up in arms.
Mayor Darlene Scanlon and two other city leaders signed an agreement with the Ione Band of Miwok Indians. They say a casino will bring jobs and revenues to the financially strapped city, population 1,000.
Residents aren't so sure and are trying to recall Scanlon and the casino supporters. They say the casino will ruin will ruin the city.
There's also a battle within the tribe. A rival group claims chairman Matt Franklin, who wants the casino, has padded the rolls with other supporters, mostly Bureau of Indian Affairs employees. An investigation by the Department of Interior's inspector general is underway.
