The mayor of Buffalo, New York, said he would file a lawsuit to force the Seneca Nation to locate a casino in downtown Buffalo.
Mayor Anthony Masiello claims the tribe's compact with the state requires a casino in Buffalo. But Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong said the city was unwelcoming. "The city wanted a casino, but only on their terms," he told the Associated Press. "They tried to tell us where to put the casino and how to run our business."
The tribe has chosen a 57-acre site in a Buffalo suburb. The facility would be the second off-reservation casino for the tribe.
