Police arrested 25 people, including the co-founder of the United Farm Workers, for protesting allegedly deplorable labor conditions at the Agua Caliente Tribe's casino in Palm Springs, California.
Casino employees say they want to organize a union but are being intimidated. They say the tribe is failing to provide adequate benefits.
The group is calling on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) to include pro-union provisions in compacts he is renegotiating with some tribes. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is reportedly not in talks with the governor.
