The Detroit city council voted 5-4 on Friday to drop its opposition to a settlement for the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.
The tribe negotiated a $79 million deal with the owners of two casinos in Detroit. The settlement came in a lawsuit the tribe filed after it was denied a chance to bid on the casino licenses.
Owners of a third casino have not agreed to the settlement.
