Some Oklahoma tribes have spent the week lobbying heavily for a bill that would legalize certain electronic casino machines for tribes and horsetracks.
Among the many pushing for passage was former Cherokee Nation chief Wilma Mankiller.
"This is not a Republican issue. This is not a Democrat issue. This is an Oklahoma issue," she said yesterday, according to The Daily Oklahoman.
The bill has generated a bit too much tension for some. Todd Scaramucci, a horseman, was charged with making threatening telephone calls to Rep. Forrest Claunch, a Republican who opposes the "bad bill."
Claunch should get his chance to vote no on SB553 today. The Democratic leadership has put the bill on today's agenda.
