A lawmaker in Illinois is calling for a study on the effects of a casino sought by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas.
The tribe is reclaiming ancestral land in Illinois and recently
purchased a home in DeKalb County.
The home is located within a 1,280-acre reservation that the Department of Interior says was wrongfully taken taken from the tribe.
The tribe is not currently in discussions with the state for a casino. State Sen. Brad Burzynski, a Republican, wants lawmakers to study the idea first.
