Bill includes funds for Sioux tribal project

ONDAY, MARCH 10, 2003

The first phase of construction plans for the Wakpa Sica Reconciliation Place in South Dakota will be unveiled later this month.

Federal funds will help move the project forward. The omnibus appropriations act that President Bush signed into law last month includes $2.67 million for the Reconciliation Place. A total of $18.2 million is needed.

The Reconciliation Place will host the Sioux Nation Supreme Court. The site will be held in trust for the 11 Sioux Nation tribes.
