The Center for Rural Affairs is seeking a Policy Associate. The Policy Associate will provide key support for advancing the Center’s policy priorities through research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy. The position will be based in Nevada, Iowa, with flexibility in work location. Regular, reliable travel to the Nevada office is required.

What You’ll Do
The Policy Associate reports to the Policy Manager and is responsible for the following:
- Conducting research to identify policy gaps, analyze potential solutions, and stay informed on relevant media and policy developments.
- Engaging with constituents, partners, and stakeholders to gather input that shapes and informs policy priorities.
- Supporting advocacy efforts by working with legislators, county officials, and other decision-makers to promote the Center’s policy agenda.
- Developing written materials to include reports, white papers, blogs, opinion pieces, and action alerts and to communicate policy research and recommendations.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with partner organizations to support the advancement of policy campaigns.
- Integrating the Center’s Values into policy work, partnerships, and organizational practices.

What Else You Should Know
This is a full-time non exempt position. This position will require occasional travel to meet with community partners and individuals and include both overnight and out-of-state travel on occasion.
Compensation and benefits:
This position has a salary range of $48,000 – $62,000 with top-notch benefits that have a cash value of $10,000 to $29,500, depending on family status and tenure with the Center. Benefits include a 97% employer-paid family health insurance that includes a contribution to a Health Savings Account, retirement options, a fantastic Employee Assistance Program, 12 paid holidays plus paid time off between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, Friday Summer Hours, and vacation and sick pay.
