Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club Main Clubhouse Closed Due to Positive Cases

AKWESASNE — The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club (ABGC) received notification from public health officials of three (3) positive COVID-19 cases at its main unit in Rooseveltown, New York. To ensure that the health and safety of all club members and staff remains a priority, the Club has made the decision to close the main unit until Tuesday, August 10th for deep cleaning and sanitizing.
“Safety is the number one priority of the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Clubs and we are doing everything possible to keep children and our staff protected from the COVID-19 virus,” said ABGC Executive Director Jessica Jock. Jock added, “Upon being notified of the positive cases, we reached out to healthcare professionals for guidance and have notified parents of measures being taken at the main clubhouse to ensure a safe reopening.”
Please note that the Clubhouses located in Kawehno:ke, Kana:takon, and TsiSnaihne are not affected by this closure.
Individuals who have been instructed to isolate or quarantine are urged to follow all public health guidance. Please remain at home and monitor for symptoms; which includes fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
COVID-19 Vaccinations are continuing to be held every Wednesday at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne, New York from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Vaccinations are also available during normally scheduled medical appointments or can be scheduled by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.
COVID-19 Testing is being held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at the clinic’s main campus at 404 State Route 37. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road and follow the signs.
Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club will provide an update for any developments or changes to the reopening date of Wednesday, August 11th.
