PNM donates $10,000 to Pueblo Relief Fund on Indigenous Peoples’ Day
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 12, 2020
(Albuquerque, N.M.) – Pueblos across New Mexico continue to feel the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. Many Pueblos are still in need of food and supplies. Many of these Pueblos are faced with the exponential challenges associated with a crisis of this magnitude.
Today, in recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, PNM donated $10,000 to the Pueblo Relief Fund, to support the 19 New Mexico Pueblo Nations, the All Pueblo Council of Governors and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center; who created the Pueblo Relief Fund. The funds donated will help the Pueblos in purchasing essential cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment, and essential food items.
“This donation by PNM adds to our continued effort of supporting the Pueblos of New Mexico during this wide-reaching global pandemic. This is a great example of how PNM supports the community and has come to the aid of the Pueblos, the Navajo Nation, Mescalero Apache Tribe and the Jicarilla Apache Nation,” said Michael Canfield, President, CEO of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. “PNM’s donation to our tribal communities of approximately 20,000 KN95 masks, 4,000 medical isolation shields and 5,000 pairs of medical gloves is critical to protecting our most valuable asset, our people.”
“PNM greatly values its long-standing relationship with the Pueblo communities that we serve,” said Pat Vincent-Collawn, President, CEO, and Chairman of PNM Resources. “In recognition of New Mexico’s first inhabitants on Indigenous People’s Day, PNM is proud to contribute to the Pueblo Relief Fund and support Pueblo communities of during this very challenging time of COVID-19.”
