The Oglala Sioux Tribe has confirmed 228 COVID-19 cases on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, according to a September 10, 2020, post on social media.
Most of the COVID-19 cases are in the Pine Ridge District. Tribal headquarters is located in the district, the most populous on the reservation.
Of the 228 positive cases, 33 are considered “active.” Again, most of them are in the Pine Ridge District.
The first COVID-19 cases in Oglala Lakota County, which encompasses most of the reservation, were confirmed in early May.
