COVID-19 Update for Pueblo of Laguna
- Sent 05/27/2020 16:54 MDT
The Laguna EOC has confirmed 3 positive COVID-19 cases within the Pueblo. The EOC has been in direct contact with Governor Herrera and Village Officials to provide care to those identified and to enact strict safeguards to keep the rest of the Pueblo safe. Contact tracing and testing has been completed for those who came in direct contact with the positive cases. The privacy of all individuals involved is of high priority for the EOC and will be protected. The EOC is working in collaboration with village officials to coordinate food and supplies to all individuals in isolation. Please be aware this new development does not only affect one village. As stated before, one case here on the Pueblo could affect a lot of people, and this is the case now. The EOC and village officials will continue to work closely with any individual impacted during this time.
Access to villages will be as follows:
The Village of Encinal will continue implementing a full closure of the village and has identified a single-entry checkpoint in operation 24/7.
The Village of Paguate has implemented a 24/7 full closure until further notice. No one will be allowed in or out of the village, with exception to essential workers with a letter from employer.
The Village of Mesita will be increasing security efforts within the current checkpoints to screen everyone entering and exiting the residential areas.
The Village of Laguna will continue to conduct checkpoints and screening those entering and exiting the village and subdivision areas.
The Village of Paraje will have 5 checkpoints throughout the area to limit access to residential areas and to screen those entering and exiting the village.
The Village of Seama has 3 checkpoints throughout the area to limit access to residential areas and to screen those entering and exiting the village.
As more security measures are taken in each village, additional alerts will be sent out. As a reminder you may contact your village officials if you are in need of groceries or supplies. We expect the community to adhere to directives of the EOC and the village officials during this time.
If you have been practicing all safety precautions identified in the Laguna Emergency Order of staying home with the exception of essential travel for work or groceries or medication, wearing a face mask out in public, washing your hands often, and cleaning high touch surfaces frequently, your potential for exposure to COVID-19 is greatly minimized.
