The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59 pm Eastern on May 16, 2020.
According to the data, 74,404 tests have been administered within the IHS. Of those, 7,053 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents a 1.2 percent increase from the 6,969 cases previously reported.
Overall, testing grew by just 0.4 percent between May 15 and May 16, the data shows. The low rates are indicative of a results that come in during weekends.
For instance, the number of COVID-19 positive cases grew 3.5 percent between May 14 and May 15. Testing similarly grew by nearly 3.3 percent.
The data, however, is incomplete. While 100 percent of facilities run directly by the IHS are reporting data, only 33 percent of tribally managed facilities and 44 percent of urban Indian organizations are doing the same.
