The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59 pm Eastern on May 6, 2020.
According to the data, 48,809 tests have been administered within the IHS system. Of those, 4,806 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an increase of about 4.2 percent from the 4,614 cases previously reported.
Overall, testing increased by 6.5 percent between May 5 and May 6, the data shows. It grew by nearly 6.4 percent between May 4 and May 5.
Every region of the IHS surpassed the 1,000-test milestone weeks ago except for the Tucson Area in southern Arizona. Testing grew by less than 1 percent in the region, which serves nearly 27,000 Native Americans.
The Navajo Area and the Alaska Area continue to report the largest number of tests administered.
