The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59 pm Eastern on May 5, 2020.
According to the data, 45,828 tests have been administered within the IHS system. Of those, 4,614 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an 3.4 percent increase from the 4,469 cases previously reported.
Overall testing grew by nearly 6.4 percent between May 4 and May 5. Almost every region surpassed the 1,000-test milestone weeks ago except for the Tucson Area in southern Arizona.
Testing in Tucson Area grew by just 3.1 percent between May 4 and May 5, according to the data. The region serves nearly 27,000 Native Americans.
The Navajo Area continues to show the largest number of tests, with 11,657 administered. The number of tests increased by 5.9 percent between May 4 and May 5, the data shows.
The Alaska Area has the second number of tests, with 8,937 administered. The number grew by nearly 8.9 percent between May 4 and May 5, according to the data.
