The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59pm Eastern on April 29, 2020.
According to the data, 33,842 tests have been administered within the system. Of those, 3,465 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The figure represents an increase of nearly 7.9 percent from the 3,212 cases previously reported.
Overall, testing increased 6.7 percent between April 28 and April 29, the data shows. It grew by 9.7 percent between April 27 and April 28.
Some areas, though, continue to lag. The Bemidji Area, which serves more than 110,000 American Indians and Alaska Natives, and the Tucson Area, which serves nearly 27,000, have yet to break the 1,000-test milestone.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the IHS states on its website.
