Yatika Starr Fields was planing on participating the Boston Marathon this year.

But with the  event canceled due to coronavirus, the Cherokee, Creek and Osage painter is conducting a virtual run — and raising money for Indian Country COVID-19 relief every step of his 26.2-mile journey.

“Like & share this tweet in the duration of my solo Marathon starting now,” Starr said on social media as he started his run.

The #COVID19 Response Project “will distribute funds & resources across Indian Country to Indigenous led organizations/groups & individuals in the next 30 days,” NDN Collective said on social media.

Fields is running the marathon via “safe” route in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he said.

He was going to run the Boston Marathon along with Wings of America.
