The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59pm Eastern on April 16, 2020.
According to the data, 15,656 have been tested within the IHS system. Of those, 1,455 are positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an increase of nearly 11 percent from the 1,313 cases previously reported.
The data shows a growth in testing in most regions of the system. For example, the Albuquerque Area saw an increase of nearly 22 percent. The number of COVID-19 positive case rose by 14 percent in the region when compared to prior results.
The Phoenix Area saw a 21 percent increase in testing. Positive cases in the region rose by almost 10 percent.
Overall, testing grew by nearly 8.7 percent between April 15 and April 16.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the agency states on its website.
