Osiyo,
Crushing Colonialism had to reschedule our second annual Decolonized Beatz to September 12, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety of our artists, performers, volunteers, and communities are of the utmost importance to us.
Decolonized Beatz was born from the need to bring Indigenous, Black, Brown, East Asian, and all People of Color together to stand with each other and fight the many ills of white supremacy and colonialism. We do this through the use of art and community organizing. Now more than ever we must stand together to survive this pandemic and support the most vulnerable in our communities.
We’ll host our first virtual Decolonized Beatz on April 16, 6:30-8 PM EST featuring the work of Dr. Maha Hilal, Summer Dawn Reyes, Tatiana Figueroa Ramirez, and more. You need to register for this event on Zoom. We’re asking for a suggested donation of $15, but no one will be turned away due to a lack of funds.
In case you missed Coronavirus & Colonization, An Indigenous Media Round Table discussion on the impacts of COVID-19 for Indigenous nations you can watch it on Facebook. If you’re someone with free time right now we could always use volunteers to help with our work, especially those with web and graphic design skills. Email me for more information.
Stay safe, take care of each other, and don’t forget to crush colonialism every day.
Wado,
Jen Deerinwater
