Viewers may have noticed Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez participated in our broadcast from his home on the evening of April 8, 2020.
Nez has now confirmed that he is in self-isolation after coming in contact with a tribal first responder, someone on the frontlines on the largest reservation in the U.S, who tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Additionally, Vice President Myron Lizer is in self-quarantine after also being in the presence with the tribal first responder.
“We are running the government through telephone,” Nez said on a broadcast to the Navajo Nation on April 9.
