The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 7pm on April 7, 2020.

According to the data, 8,934 people have been tested within the IHS system. Of those, 661 have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an increase of nearly 18 percent from the prior results.

Within certain regions, COVID-19 positive cases continue to grow at even higher rates. The Oklahoma City Area, for example, has seen an increase of nearly 74 percent, according to the data.

And the Portland Area, which covers Oregon, Washington and Idaho, saw a 28 percent increase on COVID-19 positive cases from the prior results.

“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the agency says on its website. “This is a rapidly evolving situation and the IHS will provide updated information as it becomes available and is verified.”
