The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is not yet reporting any COVID-19 cases even as the tribe is surrounded by the coronavirus in Mississippi.
According to an April 5, 2020, post on social media, two people tested positive after going to the tribe’s health center. But there are presently no COVID-19 cases among Choctaw citizens, the tribe said. The results from 18 tests are pending.
A second post on social media shows how the areas around the eight Choctaw communities have been hit by the coronavirus. Neshoba County, for instance, has 11 cases as of April 6. Tribal headquarters is in the county.
