The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 7pm Eastern on March 29, 2020.
According to the data, a total of 3,083 people in the IHS system have been tested for the coronavirus. Of those, 165 people have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase from the 135 cases reported in the prior results.
The Navajo Area of the IHS continues to suffer from the largest number of COVID-19 cases. The IHS data shows 110 cases while the Navajo Nation reports 128 cases. The tribe updated its figures later in the evening on March 29 so they reflect more recent information.
Elsewhere in the IHS, positive cases appear to be holding steady as more results come in. Besides Navajo, only the Phoenix Area saw an increase — there’s now a total of 10 cases, up from the 7 reported in the prior results.
According to the data, results are still pending from 1,114 tests.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the IHS notes on its website.
