In a video message on March 24, 2020, Chief Tim J. Davis and Sub-Chief Joe Kequom of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe provided an update on COVID-19 prevention efforts. The tribe is closing all non-essential services from March 23 through April 3 in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus in Michigan. Essential services, such as law enforcement, are not impacted.

Hello from all of us on the Tribal Council.  We hope this video finds you all well and healthy.  On March 17, 2020 we made the tough decision to close Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel, the Slot Palace & Bingo Hall and the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel.  Also on March 17, 2020 we decided to provide “Administrative Leave” to government employees to eliminate the exposure and interaction of both associates and our guests during this Coronavirus Pandemic.

Today we have decided that in the best interest of everyone’s safety and well-being to temporarily close Tribal Operations (with exception to 24/7 and essential service personnel) until further notice, however, we anticipate an expected return to work date being April 14, 2020, since April 13th is a Tribal holiday.  We will continue to provide those essential services throughout this period.  Please be sure to call before venturing out to ensure the staff will be ready to service your needs.

Remember to remain in your homes as much as possible, cover your mouth when you cough, do not touch your face and wash your hands often.  Take care of yourselves and each other.  Together we will get through this challenge.  Miigwetch
